PLUS... (and this is the big one)... the COMPLETE never-released, never-before-heard "ELCTRIC VERSION" of the album (recorded BEFORE the band went ROCKOUSTIC).

The original official album
DAYS OF REACTION - The band’s first single and the tune that brought in many of its most dedicated fans. Chunky, funky with air guitar chops peppered all the way through. And dig that bass, too.
WITH YOU - Longing, desperation and angst, all wrapped up in classic rock style guitar hooks. Sometimes, it’s all about the riffs, the groove and the emotion. This one proves you definitely can rock acoustically.
HONEY FEET - This groovin’ bluesy romp - originally thought of as a throwaway song by the band - became one of their most popular tunes, much to their surprise. Toe-tappin’, body-movin’, guitar-drenched fun.
ANOTHER YEAR GONE - Funky chops married with a walking bass line lay the groundwork for this vocal-rich jaunt. You want horns? No problem. A tasty organ? You got it. Clever six-part harmonies? Check! A band fave!
EVERYTHING - An acoustic psychedelic-vibe is the heart and soul of this fan favorite, highlighted by one the band’s most recognizeable riffs and tastiest guitar solos. Duelling guitars at the end is the delicious cherry on top.
LIVING FOR LIVING (SCENES FROM THE PLAYGROUND) - This progressive rockoustic powerhouse showcases the depth of the band’s writing and creativity. Exquisite guitar work, elegantly layered vocals, and a driving tom-tom rhythm make this one shine.
STILL AROUND - Easily one the band’s most familar - and popular - tunes. Rhythmic, melodic, driven by percussive guitars, a catchy hook, a perfectly crafted solo and a hint of cynicism, it’s a band classic.
WE GO ON - One of the very few genuine “love songs” in the Elm Treason catalog, this one features dreamy poetry, finger-picked guitar, shimmering harmonics, a hypnotic theramin and spacey vibrato guitar chords.
MOOD - Introspective and haunting, this sublime ghostly confessional is a huge fan favorite and features what is easily one the band’s best and most awe-inspiring guitar solos. The tune that closed every live show.

INSATIABLE BANALITIES - This one from the vault laments the the shallow, here-today-gone-tomorrow assembly line nature of modern pop music. Sweet harmonies, clever background vocals and an insane solo.
USED TO KNOW - A tight groove and fluidly funky bass line - along with three very distinct, magnificently composed guitar solos - highlight a tune the band performed live in its early days. Cool background vocals, too!
POTTY SONG - Never meant as a serious piece of music, this largely improvised, off-the-cuff jam is based on a song made up by Bobby to assist potty training his son. Tapes were rolling. A silly, fun session with Aaron Steel on vocals. The spoken word segment is ad-libbed.

The album that never was as it would have been
DAYS OF REACTION - The original “plugged in” version of this song features magnificently executed crybaby guitar leads throughout a “classic rock” arrangement that significantly differs from the official release.
WITH YOU - This original incarnation is a far simpler arrangement, void of many of the riffs and runs that make the official version so catchy and engaging. Yet, the power is undeniable. The tension is real. The guitar solo, off the hook.
HONEY FEET - This mellower - yet still tasty - original take differs in that here are three verses, not two. There is no opening solo, no ending scat solo, and the extended guitar work in the middle had yet to be written.
ANOTHER YEAR GONE - The official rockoustic release of this tune utilizes the vocals, bass, drums and horns from this take. This original “plugged in” version, however, does not have an organ. The riff still cooks and the leads are sweet.
MOOD - This version was set to be track five of the final album lineup. While similar to the official release, the amazing mind-blowing ending guitar solo had yet to be composed. The song has a fade out - a rare Treason occurance.
LIVING FOR LIVING (SCENES FROM THE PLAYGROUND) - This original take is more straight forward. There is no opening solo. After the repeating heavy riff in the middle section, there is no succeeding solo. Still, the vocals soar, the guitars rock and again, a rare fade out.
INSATIABLE BANALITIES - This track was previously unreleased in any form. This version is very similar to the rockoustic version. The vocals, bass, drums, percussion and acoustic guitars are the same in both versions. Different solo. Still killer.
STILL AROUND - A band favorite from the electric sessions. This take features background vocals during the verses not present in the official release. It also boasts a fantastically unique solo of harmonized lines played with an e-bow.
WE GO ON - Same as the official version with lyric variations. The mind is “raped with plans,” not “draped.” The heaven spotted sheets are “my” sheets, not “these.” And the jar of tomorrows are “young,” not “a billion.”
USED TO KNOW - This offering is an eclectic tour de force featuring a harmonium, an electric sitar, and a scorching lead guitar all on top of a chunky bass line. The ending, unlike the rockoustic version, has layered, repeating vocals.
EVERYTHING - Unlike the official version, this take was originally meant to close out the album. This track - and ultimately the album itself - ends with an epic guitar solo, not unlike the official album does with “Mood.”
POTTY SONG - For those familiar with the Beatles’ “Abbey Road” album, the song “Her Majesty” is a short little snippet stitched on past the official record’s ending - a kind of “hidden” surprise not even a minute long. That’s what this track is: a tiny musical morsel taken from an improvised studio jam featuring Bobby’s song Aaron - then three years old - on lead vocals. Fun, meaningless, silly.
alternate versions
MOOD (BAMBOO FLUTE MIX) - This early version has a different vibe, complete with bongos, an eerie elctric guitar and solo work done on a bamboo flute. Also of note is that the harmony and melody vocal variations did not yet exist.
MOOD (MOOG MIX) - This version is identical to the bamboo flute mix except that the flute has been replaced by a Lil Phatty moog synthesizer. While some of the lines are similar, the two solos are significantly different.
ELM TREASON TIP JAR
All the music here is absolutely FREE, of course, but if you’d like to show the band some support, it would be appreciated beyond adjectives and superlatives. Either way, enjoy the music!
AVAILABLE ON CD OR VINYL?
At this time, there is no physical media available for this “DAYS OF REACTION” deluxe collection.
However…
We are willing to create, based on potential demand, a beautiful two-CD set of this special anniversary collection… but ONLY IF it looks like enough people are willing to drop the coin on such a thing to make it worth the time and effort.
These sets would be EXTREMELY LIMITED EDITION, created to meet the specific demand. These would not be inventory items. Because these would not be printed in bulk, costs would be a little higher - probably somewhere around $30 for the two CD set.
Vinyl - something that MIGHT be considered, depending on interest - would be SO EXCLUSIVE that they would have to be specially printed up on an order by order basis. It’d probably cost about $100 or more for you to grab this set on vinyl. The fact is, It is quite expensive to press vinyl in low quantities.
