EFF YOU, FACEBOOK
Damn you, Facebook… Or Meta… Or whatever nomenclature you are attaching to your ridiculously inefficient platform.
Screw you!
Twice yesterday, we tried to post a major announcement for the band within a private Facebook group made up of people who specifically signed up to be part of the group: The Uptown Q.
Maybe our grasp of what we like to call “common sense” is critically flawed, but when people sign up for a private Facebook group, that says to us that people want to see content that’s not available to the general public.
Yet, time and time and time again, this stupid jackbooted, overly-sensitive, small-business-crushing platform does not distribute the band’s stuff properly.
Yes, we do credit the platform for bringing many of our current fans to us now. There’s no denying that.
And yes, rampant emotions are, in part, fueling this particular tirade.
But it feels like Facebook not allowing us to grow - not even within a private Facebook group with people who signed up to see this stuff.
Infuriating!
This major announcement was posted around 4 PM yesterday… And was only distributed to 26 people out of 416 Uptown Q riders.
Unacceptable!
We deleted that post and reposted it a couple of hours later thinking maybe we just chose the wrong time of day… And maybe the algorithm would kick in with more gusto the second time around.
Nope.
Out of 416 people, only 29 saw the second post.
Dammit, this is a major announcement from the band!
It’s an incredibly unique promotional idea.
It’s a way of trying to keep the business of Elm Treason alive.
And yet, we can’t even get people within our own group who specifically signed up for content like this to see it.
29 out of 416.
Are you fucking kidding us?!!!!
Yes, we sent out this announcement via email as well, but sadly, a lot of people don’t open their email.
How the hell is an Indie artist supposed to make headway and stay alive if the damn platform won’t distribute content to those who SPECIFICALLY SIGNED UP TO RECEIVE THEM?
Screw you, Zuckbook!
Yeah, go ahead… De-platform us…
You don’t allow our organic posts to reach people without paying, and you don’t let private group members see our posts.
Unreal.
