ACOUSTIC TREASON

Elm Treason’s Second Album - It went BOM BOM BOOM!

If ever a sophomore album solidified a band’s success and support from their fan base, Treason’s follow-up to their debut album “Days of Reaction” did just that… and then some! “Acoustic Treason” showed Treasonites everywhere that Andy and Bobby weren’t one-trick ponies looking to simply mimic what they did the first time around. Sticking to their rockoustic plan, the band decided NOT to re-write the songs on their first record and, instead, tap into some new areas. The results yielded the band’s most popular song ever, “Just Like Rock and Roll” - a 200 beat per minute punkish romp that reinforces their love affair with rock music. The brooding “Home Alone Blues,” the 60’s inspired “I Gotta Write Down” and the all-time fan favorite “Fort Misery” illustrate the band’s obsession with keeping each song distinctive, catchy and musically outstanding. Songs like “Lilah” and “I Like it There” show a quickly growing maturity in their songwriting and stand among the fan base’s favorite tracks.

Just Like Rock and Roll

I’m gonna make this song rock and roll, I can see it ain’t easy:

Chicks, cars and drums that go BOM BOM BOOM

Snake it down, crush the crowd, keep it all bleeding

Don’t go down if you can’t take the BOM BOM BOOM

Make it throb, rock and roll, even the squeezing

Ink, Jack, dudes that roll…BOM BOM BOOM

One, two, three, four on the ground, all fall down

Burn me where I can see, made my bed, and I’m good with that

Satisfy like rock and roll, how is it feeling?

It don’t mean nothing if you never go BOM BOM BOOM

Turn it up like rock and roll, but they’ll know if your posing

They’ll bounce you ‘round, take you down - BOM BOM BOOM

Look at mama’s sweetie pie taking it easy

Long ago your mama go BOM BOM BOOM

One, two, three, four on the ground, all fall down

Burn me where I can see, made my bed, and I’m good with that

Making this song rock and roll, see it ain’t easy:

Chicks, cars and drums that go BOM BOM BOOM

Pick me up off the ground, I need what I’m needing

A little more of that stuff that goes BOM BOM BOOM

It’s quite alright if it’s someone else’s baby that’s pleasing

As long as we can make it go BOM BOM BOOM

One, two, three, four on the ground, all fall down

Burn me where all can see, made my bed, and I’m good with that

Make this song like rock and roll, it’s crazy easy:

Chicks, cars and drums that go BOM BOM BOOM

Chicks, cars and drums that go BOM BOM BOOM

Just like rock and roll, BOM BOM BOOM, BOM BOOM

I Gotta Write This Down

I don’t know nothing, and that’s nothing new,

But I can’t say nothing, what’s true is true.

Across from clever where the sky keeps turning

I make a little space for you.

I can’t see nothing since I woke today.

All of a sudden, I got nothing to say.

I ain’t so clever, and the sky keeps turning.

I make a little space for you.

Oh, you you you came to me

with a dream in your pocket and your uptown blues.

Hit me like I’ve never been alive ‘til you.

I gotta write this down

I gotta write this down

I gotta write this down

I gotta write this down

I don’t know nothing, and that’s nothing new,

But I can’t say nothing, what’s true is true.

Across from clever where the sky keeps turning

I make a little space for you.

Oh, you you you came to me

with a dream in your pocket and your uptown blues.

Hit me like I’ve never been alive ‘til you.

I gotta write this down

You know, I gotta write this down

I gotta write this down

It may never come around

Oh, I gotta write this down

I gotta write this down

Home Alone Blues

Hold on, my Lilah, I know you very well

Companion ‘til morning, ‘til the lay of the light starts to hiding my Lilah from me

Awkwardly free

I seem to be awkwardly free

I feel you, Lilah, I don’t need to see

A blanket, a magnet, ‘til the face of the light starts to smiling morning on me

Awkwardly free

I seem to be awkwardly free

Over and under and through, you’ll not see me, too…already fooled

And the things I carry and balance and manage, it’s true,

Are the things she’s hiding, providing, protecting from view, something like dying anew

Coming and leaving, it’s me you’ll be seeing when Lilah slips out of view

Do you know Lilah? I know her quite well.

What do you call her when the lay of the night starts to riding the darkness on me

Awkwardly free

I seem to be awkwardly free

Every Lilah, we see but don’t see. We can’t see the wind but can see what she does

when she’s crying… like Lilah and me

Awkwardly free

I seem to be awkwardly free

Over and under and through, you’ll not see me, too…already fooled

And the things I carry and balance and manage, it’s true,

Are the things she’s hiding, providing, protecting from view, something like dying anew

Coming and leaving, it’s me you’ll be seeing when Lilah slips out of view

Hold on my Lilah, you know me very well

Together ‘til morning, ‘til the grey of the night starts to dying and Lilah is free

Awkwardly free.

She’s just like me, awkwardly me.

She’s just like me, awkwardly me.

She’s just like me, awkwardly me.

I refuse to entertain this fear and pain

And I’m telling you that I’ll never be caught home alone again.

I race out into the midnight driving rain

And I’m telling you that I’ll never be caught home alone again.

I find myself in a war of loss and gain

And I’m telling you that I’ll never be caught home alone again.

I reach and grip the unknown by the reins

And I’m telling you that I won’t be caught home alone again

with the blues.

A brand new kind of free has me, and I’m singing,

“Can it be that I’m really free?”

(with the blues)

A brand new kind of free has me, and I’m singing,

“Can it be that I’m really free?”

Up to me.

I refuse to entertain this fear and pain

And I’m telling you that I’ll never be caught home alone again.

Yes, it’s over now and I’ve never felt this sane.

And I’m telling you that I cannot be caught home alone again.

(with the blues)

A brand new kind of free has me, and I’m singing,

“Can it be that I’m really free?”

Up to me.

Crayon

I’m never never gonna be a superman, I’m never gonna let the other win.

I’m a crayon pacified - a front, a middle and old inside.

A whole lotta nothin’ left to do, just look at you dyin’ cryin’ fool.

I’m a crayon mystified at the little bit of something left inside.

And I can see one more day of killing.

And I think I see one more day of killing - killing me.

Your tearing it apart right next to me, broken down, it’s so sad to see

a crayon petrified that I’ll never get to see the better side.

You swallowin’ followin’ hollow fool, can’t you even see the truth?

A crayon testifying to the great wide open askin’ why.

And I can see one more day of being.

And I think I see one more day of being - being me.

I’ve had enough, I will not play this anymore.

I have to say I’m feeling stronger now.

A crayon’s kiss across the page, I make the plan, I choose the shade.

Here, getting stronger.

Yes, getting stronger.

A little stronger.

Yes, feeling stronger.

I never never have to be a superman, only ever gonna be what I am

a crayon alive inside from the picture painted for my eyes.

Won’t turn away, I’m here to stay - I fall, I hurt, I cut, I pray -

a crayon who doesn’t hide from the smoke, the broken and all the lies.

And I can see one more day of living.

And I think I see one more day of living – living free.

(Spoon Them) Dollops

Spoon them dollops, that bumper-sticker, doo-dad feed

with sugar on it, so it lives right in your memory.

Don’t have to think, don’t have to try, don’t even have to question why.

Spoon them dollops ‘til the fluffin’ nothin’ covers me

Sounds so good…wash, rinse repeat

Tongue them nuggets, those juicy catchy monkey lines

Shiny buttons and ribbons and flags and pretty signs…

Don’t have to think, don’t have to see, don’t even need a remedy.

Spoon them dollops ‘til the warm and fuzzies cover me

Sounds so good…wash, rinse repeat

Spoon them dollops on me

Pretty words and rhymes and dreams, watch them shut you down

A dollop’s nice – sweet, concise, you take it to the battleground again

And you feel so pure and true, ‘cause you’ve tasted from the spoon that feeds

Tasty dollops of easy-taken decal treats

Candy slogans, the catchy stuff you can repeat

Don’t have to chew, don’t have to breathe, don’t even need the truth, you see

When savory dollops explain away your everything

Sounds so good…wash, rinse repeat

Spoon them dollops on me

Pretty words and rhymes and dreams, watch them shut you down

A dollop’s nice – sweet, concise, you take it to the battleground again

And you feel so pure and true, ‘cause you’ve tasted from the spoon that feeds

Spoon them dollops on me

Spoon them dollops, that bumper-sticker, doo-dad stuff

with sugar on it, so it lives right where the brain pan rusts.

Don’t have to think, don’t have to try, don’t even have to question why.

Spoon them dollops ‘til the fluffin’ nothin’ covers me

Sounds so good…wash, rinse repeat

Spoon them dollops on me

Spoon them dollops, spoon them dollops, spoon them dollops on me

(pretty words and rhymes and dreams, watch them shut you down)

Spoon them right on me

Another Nowhere

I need a new teaser, a dream, or just a play

A sweet little scheme or a "maybe" I can taste

I feel like everything. I feel like nothing, too.

I need a big pleaser. Something new, something new.

Ooooh, I need another new

Ooooh, I need another new

I need a new teaser, a game that goes away,

A speeding steamer - something I can take.

Believe me, I've been here, I lay me down my head

To sleep and to dream it, and every time I've said,

"Ooooh, I need another new

Ooooh, I need another new

Another nowhere

Another nowhere

Another nowhere, new.

Another nowhere

Another nowhere

Take it new, and spit it out as used.

Ooooh, I need another new

Ooooh, I need another new

Another nowhere

Another nowhere

Another nowhere, new.

Another nowhere

Another nowhere

Take it new, and spit it out as used.

Another time, another tease misleading

And all I had was "Come Again."

Another why, another reason teeming

And all I am is "Come Again."

I need a new teaser, a dream, or just a play

A sweet little scheme or a "maybe" I can taste

I feel like everything. I feel like nothing, too.

I need a big pleaser. Something new, something new.

Ooooh, I need another new

Ooooh, I need another new

Another nowhere

Another nowhere

Another nowhere, new.

Another nowhere

Another nowhere

Take it new, and spit it out as used.

I Like it There

That moment, beneath the grey sky, just before the rain arrives

I like it there

That window over there on a cool night, just before the evening’s rise

I like it there

That quiet, that lie, in a faint cry, just before again arrives

I like it there

I like it there, the hazy ‘fore a dream

December dawn and lazy along the sea

I like it there when summer’s almost gone

When all is right until it’s wrong again

Your whisper, so light, is in my mind, just before I sleep at night

I like it there

And when I break down, and I can’t hide, you take me by your side

I like it there

I like it there, the hazy ‘fore a dream

December dawn and lazy along the sea

I like it there when summer’s almost gone

When all is right until it’s wrong again

Tomorrow, she’ll come. She’s a bit sly. The promise of what’s yet to come

I like it there

I cannot know why, but in due time…just before I clear my mind

I like it there

I like it there, the hazy ‘fore a dream

December dawn and lazy along the sea

I like it there when summer’s almost gone

When all is right until it’s wrong again

Fort Misery

The Big man say to the Lady Bug, “I kind of like your room.” The Lady Bug say, “Thanks a bunch, I think I’m moving soon.”

He crossed his legs and he motioned her to “come and sit right here” with a glass of milk, some Gary Lewis and a finger in his ear.

The Lady Bug she brought a plate of ten-percent fat free, then took him from his dusty hands to C-Note history.

Well, the Lady Bug left a card that said “remember me.” He read the words: “Greetings from Fort Misery.”

Little Diamond Tina was kind of good at stuff. She waited in the doorway with a bracelet and a brush.

She heard about this man uptown who kept his gadgets clean, so she hopped a North bound businessman and said, “I gotta make this scene.”

She flew into the dark lanai and much to her surprise, she found a band of bearded men connected at the thighs.

Well, Little Diamond Tina tamed the crowd she found for free. Now pays the fare in arms and legs at Fort Misery.

The genius king had everything except a little son, so he turned to the queen with his fine machine and said,

“Come on, let’s get this done. I’m the only king in town without and now I want me one.”

The queen said, “Sorry, Your Majesty, that ain’t my kind of fun.”

So he called the knave who brought his blade and simplified this plan by turning the king into the valley’s favorite bachelor man.

Well, the king met up with a little thing who gave him sons times three, then killed her off and rambled off to Fort Misery.

The news man said, “I’m afraid I cannot dress like this no more.” So he said goodbye with spit in his eye and he headed for the door.

He sold his wife and kids and made a bee-line for the coast with a duffle bag of TV Guides and a copy of the Post.

The news man stopped along the way and, poor boy, he just drank himself into tomorrow and he robbed himself a bank.

Well, the news man found a better set of threads on Channel Three.

Now sells cheap thrills to the boys and the girls of Fort Misery.

If you wanna dance, you’ve got to pay the fiddler what he needs.

Forever’s just a space of time in Fort Misery.
